No window to arrange, no file to save, no tab to find again afterwards. The menu opens over whatever you were doing and closes when it is done.
A phrase becomes a variable name
The ticket says customer billing address. The Swift file wants customerBillingAddress. That gap is a few seconds of careful typing, several times a day, and it is where typos come from.
Camel splits the phrase on spaces, hyphens, underscores and existing case boundaries, so it does not matter whether you copied a sentence, a column name or an identifier somebody else wrote. The converted value replaces the clipboard, which is why this works the same in Xcode, a terminal, a browser or a chat window.

A rushed message becomes sendable
This is what an incident update actually looks like at the moment you write it: a missing word, three typos, a sentence that never quite lands. Fix Grammar repairs it in one pass and leaves the facts alone — 14:00 to 15:30 stays 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, not “this afternoon”.
A Custom AI Action is one instruction you write once and reuse forever. Camel ships templates for fixing grammar, summarizing, drafting replies and reformatting, and you can edit any of them into the thing you actually do all day.
- It runs on your Mac through Apple Intelligence — the text and the instruction never reach a server.
- So internal detail is fine customer names, incident timelines and internal service names are not a problem.
- And it works offline on a plane, or on a network that blocks everything interesting.
A token stays a secret
Pasting a production JWT into an online debugger is the fastest way to turn a debugging session into a rotation task. The token is a credential; the moment it lands in someone else’s text box, you have to treat it as leaked.
Camel decodes the header and payload locally, so you can read sub, exp and the custom claims, confirm which environment issued the thing, and get on with the bug. It reads the token rather than verifying it — the signature stays the job of the service holding the key.
- Base64 and URL encode and decode payloads and escaped links from the same submenu.
- HTML entities unwrap a string that arrived with & and " baked into it.
- SHA-256 and friends SHA-1, SHA-512 and MD5 too, computed straight from the clipboard.

Does Camel upload my clipboard text?
No. Built-in tools process clipboard content locally. Custom AI Actions use Apple Intelligence on your Mac, so your text and instructions are not sent to Camel servers or a third-party AI API.
What does Camel require?
Camel runs on macOS 14 or later. Custom AI Actions additionally require macOS 26, an Apple Intelligence-compatible Mac, and Apple Intelligence turned on in System Settings.
Can I run Camel actions from other apps?
Yes. Global shortcuts can open Camel, show clipboard history, run text transformations, paste saved snippets, control Copy Batch, and trigger Custom AI Actions from whichever app you are in.
Does Camel need accessibility permissions?
No. Camel works through the menu bar and your clipboard, so shortcuts run without granting extra system permissions.
Is Camel free?
Camel is free to download and includes the core tools. An optional Camel Pro upgrade unlocks advanced actions and removes limits.
